Stories from the Bible - B.J. van Wijk
You must see him. He cannot remain hidden, because he stands out above everything. The city on the mountain. Visible to everyone. In the light of the sun he sparkles and shines. Something is going on!
A candle on a candlestick in a dark house. Everyone who enters sees the candle shining. Light radiates from it and the candle illuminates the house. No, you don't put it under a bushel, a measuring cup to measure grain. Then no one will see it, right? But it really comes into its own on the candlestick.
In the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5, the Lord Jesus uses these examples to make it clear that His children must radiate the light of the Gospel in the world. That Gospel is also a light, because it points to The Light, the Savior and Redeemer from sins Jesus Christ.
In the edition you now hold in your hands, that Light radiates outward. Nowhere in the world can you find a more instructive and comforting Word. It has been the conversion, encouragement and comfort of many. Everyone in the entire world must know this Word in his or her heart. The John Bunyan Foundation wishes this book to be in the hands of many. Let us work together to ensure that this good news gets there!
